Biscuits and Gravy

Anyone else have special memories about their good Southern grandma making them biscuits and gravy as a child?

This one is for you —

Gluten Free Sausage Gravy Recipe

(pair it with a batch of my Cheezy Biscuits for a fast and easy breakfast packed with nostalgia)

1lb Breakfast sausage or your choice of pork sausage (the kind in the tube)

1 tsp each of thyme, sage, fennel and garlic powder

salt and pepper to taste

2 tbsp butter

1/4 cup cassava flour

2 cups milk (dairy free will work fine)

3/4 cup broth (I like beef, but chicken or vegetable will work fine)

Brown your sausage and spices in a nonstick pan or skillet. Once sausage is browned, set it aside. Add butter and cassava flour to the hot pan, and stir constantly until the mixture is smooth and thick. Add milk and broth, and continue to stir consistently until the mixture thickens to the desired consistency. It will take a few minutes for the gravy to thicken. Add sausage back in and give it a good final stir.

Serve immediately.
